So again a guitar with a story - This guitar came to me by way of Den the Dec. We were having the kitchen done and lovely Den the guy doing it, whilst raiding my shed for tools he had forgotten, asked about all of the guitars, saying i've got one of them if you want it and its left handed.
So he bought it over the next day - turns out that about 30 years ago, he bought it at a charity auction for his son to learn on. His son didn't stick at it, so it sat in his loft all that time. Covered in soot and grime with three rusty strings on it. Needless to say nothing worked. That's perfect I said and gave him a bung to give to charity (he's the arch warlord of the local water beavers or something).
Stripped it all down and it cleaned up pretty well, found some ivory coloured car paint to touch up the binding where it had chipped, gutted the electrics and changed the switch, jack and pots managing to find some with the right splines for the original knobs and rewired it. Little fret polish and dress, stripped and greased the tuners, and dropped a new nut on it with some nice fresh strings and we were ready to go.
So we plugged it in and woooooooooooooooooooo big surprise. Definitely Les Paul like and a pretty good player to boot. It's actually a mid 70s Antoria, so around 50 years old or more, not a collectors guitar, but when i was a kid loads better than anything i could dream of owning at the time.
Now to find it a home..................
